Safety Tip of the Week

Always keep your dog's license on his collar!

The law requires you to license your dog each year and display it on your dog's collar. If he's not wearing it, the license won't do him any good if he should happen to get lost.

Anyone who finds your lost dog can look up his tag number on our website to find out where he belongs, or they can call us to look it up.

Any of our dog wardens who may pick up your wayward pup can also contact you immediately and return your dog safely to you, bypassing the trip to the shelter entirely.

If for some reason you cannot be reached, we will continue to hold your dog at the shelter for up to fourteen days while we keep trying to contact you. This can protect your pet in an emergency, and keep him safe until you can reclaim him.

Licenses must be purchased every year by January 31.
